Controlled
flight into terrain has been a major cause
of accidents since the beginning of flight
with nearly 40% of all accidents involving
controlled flight into terrain TrueMap
automatically monitors your altitude in
relation to the terrain elevation and
provides you with an immediate alert when
you are within 8 minutes and 500 ft. of any
terrain conflict.
TrueMap provides a
worldwide terrain database displaying terrain
contour as shown on your sectional chart, or
color coded and displayed relative to your
altitude as shown above. You can see
terrain elevation in relation to your current
altitude -- green indicates terrain 1,000-1,500
feet below your current altitude, yellow means
terrain is 500 feet to 1,000 feet below you, and
red is for 500 feet below to anything above.
There are nearly
100,000 towers and tall obstacles in the US
alone. Spotting, and reading the
obstacle heights is often difficult on a
cluttered chart especially when the workload is high.
Flight Cheetah constantly monitors its extensive
database for obstacles. Any obstacle
within 8 minutes and 500 feet of your
altitude automatically triggers an
alert symbol as well as displaying in red
the obstacles on your moving map around your
aircraft.
