  Cables
Both the Garmin 396 and 496 require:

  1. External XM antenna/receiver cable (red arrow)

  2. The Garmin 396/496 has a built in GPS antenna, but depending on whether you can get both good reception and be able to read the screen where you mount the unit an external antenna may be required (yellow arrow).

  3. Depending whether you need external power and whether traffic interface is being used a 3rd cable would be necessary (green arrow).

The Flight Cheetah FL 190 has two different configurations

  1. Power cable (green arrow)
  2. A single USB data cable, (red arrow shown to the right) ending in a USB hub allowing for multiple devices to be plugged in remotely.  This hub can be placed in a remote area such as under the dash board or seat where all modules can be plugged in.  For an even neater installation have your Avionics installer route the wires.

The Flight Cheetah FL 190  NO Cables

  1. No power cable, with optional internal battery it will run continuously for 4 hours.
  2. Data Cable replaced by the latest Bluetooth 2.0 which is built into the FL 190.  The XM and GPS receiver Bluetooth options add about $250 additional cost. NOTE: It is recommended that for people ordering Bluetooth that you are familiar with how to use Bluetooth.  Some aircraft have high levels of electronic interference that will reduce performance of Bluetooth systems.
